“B-Brother,” you said pointing to the glass.
“Si, what are those ____________?” Toni asked trying to get you to learn more words. “Those are clown fish. Can you say clown fish?”
“Brother,” you said clapping happily. You grabbed his face from your place in his arms. “Brother!”
Toni sighed. While it was highly flattering that your first word was ‘brother’ it was all you’d say. It annoyed your parents that you couldn’t or wouldn’t say ‘mommy’ or ‘daddy’, but being only one and a half years old it wasn’t your fault.
So Antonio had decided to take you to the aquarium.
“____________, can you say fish?”
“How about jellyfish?” he asked pointing to the jellyfish tank. “Je-lee fish.”
You clapped your hands, “Brother!”
A few old ladies pointed at you and gave you a wave, muttering how cute you were and how Toni was an amazing older brother.
Smiling he took you to one more tank. “Can you say turtle?”
Your eyes were glued to the tank. Putting your hand against it you said, “Tur-tle.”
Antonio stared at you, “What was that?”
“Tur-tle,” you said still staring at the creature that captivated your attention. “Tur-tle.”
“This is great! Your said it, say it again!”
“Brother,” you said grabbing his cheeks again. Your tummy grumbled and you started to whine, “Brother…”
“Are you hungry, __________?” Toni asked calming down slightly. “Let’s get you something to eat si?”
You clapped your hands messily as he took you to your favorite place to eat.
“LOVI!” you shouted. Your second favorite person, after your big brother, was defiantly Lovino Vargas. “Hug Lovi! Hug!” you demanded the loudmouth Italian.
Lovino rolled his eyes, but hugged you.
You liked hugging him, he smelled like garlic and tomato sauce.
“So what can I get you basta-I mean Toni?”
Toni took you from Lovino and put you in your highchair, “We’ll have some churros and some milk. Is that good, ___________?”
“Churro,” you said messing around with your spoon.
“Whatever,” Lovino grumbled and walked back to the kitchen.
A few minutes later you pointed to the floor, “Brother.”
“What is it, __________?” Toni asked not looking away from the menu in his hands.
He turned a page, “Yes, _________ we saw turtles today didn’t we?”
“That’s back at the aquarium.”
“What in the-.” He put his menu down to see the floor covered in baby sea turtles.
